Stephen Schreiber was born in New York City, grew up in New England, attended Harvard University and then came to England to train as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He was in various productions around the UK, including several plays with the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he played the part of Paris in Troilus and Cressida. His appearances include the part of Laurie in a BBC TV adaptation of Little Women and David Griggs in Oppenheimer with Sam Waterston and David Suchet. He had a long break from the business while his second family was growing up and since his return to acting has been to the English Theatre of Hamburg twice, for Ronald Harwood’s Quartet and Neil Simon’s Rose’s Dilemma. He has played R F Simpson in Singin’ in the Rain, Mr Everlon in original musical Legacy Falls and Mr Gripe in a new musical adaptation of Pollyanna. He has recently appeared in the feature film A Wedding Most Strange, which had its premiere at the Montreal International Film Festival. He understudied Richard Johnson (Norman) in a national tour of On Golden Pond earlier this year and has just finished acting in two plays, back to back, Lord Loam in The Admirable Crichton at Barons Court Theatre and Professor Aspinall in Insufficiency at Riverside Studios.
